Why is my dryer taking so long to dry?
A dryer that suddenly needs multiple cycles may have an airflow problem rather than a heating problem.
A restricted dryer vent is a common cause
Your dryer has to move hot, moist air out of the drum. If lint, nesting material, a damaged connection or another restriction limits that exhaust path, moisture leaves the dryer more slowly and drying time increases.
Warning signs to look for
- Loads require more than one cycle
- Clothes remain damp
- The dryer or laundry room becomes unusually hot
- The exterior vent barely opens while the dryer runs
- An airflow warning appears on the dryer
